About Us
1996 The year of the underdog Philadelphia Hip Hop scene was emerging and Aphillyation was prepared to release a form of Hip Hop the city wasn’t used to. When Aphillyation started gaining traction in the city, even before the forming of Aphillyation we was MERDAH 1992 and we had a major buzz in the city. S/o DJ Ran Radio Active. When we started Aphillyation we didn’t know which way we was gonna take it, we were technically a new group. I’m thinking to myself how can we get the name buzzin my childhood friend Karl “Dice Raw” Jenkins was on tour with this group called The Roots they just signed a deal and Dice is on their debut single “The Lesson” It’s 1996 we just inked a distribution deal with Echo international out in Englewood NJ. Aphillyation released their debut single under their own label i“Universityle” titled ”United Snakes of America “ feat: Dice Raw of the legendary Roots crew. From there on Aphillyation would sign their first major deal with Tommy Boy records in 1999. The interviews on Philadelphia’s own Power 99 Fm to being interviewed on the legendary Wendy Williams show.
Aphillyation was determine to stake their flag in the industry doing a string of live performances from the State of Delaware to Houston Texas, Aphillyation blessed the stage with some of the biggest names in the game, Common, Black Thought, Black Moon Mobb Deep and many. The Electric Factory {Philadelphia} 2000 LYRICIST LOUNGE TOUR, we had to go on in back of EMENEM. Aphillyation have been shown love by radio air personality and DJ Stretch & Bobbito. We’ve rocked show’s with legend’s like KRS and Poor Righteous Teachers and that’s just part of our journey in fighting for dreams we’ve had years before that present day and here we are today.
